A puck is a type of pointing device used with a |graphics tablet|. The housing is shaped like a |mouse|, but without the |tracking ball| inside to register movement of the device. Instead, it has sensors which detect subsurface electronics in the graphics tablet. The movement of the puck across the tablet is translated to movement of the ~cursor~ on the |video display|. A ~sighting reticle~ is mounted at the head of the puck. This allows a diagram or sketch placed on the tablet surface to be easily traced by the puck.
